Conceived as a pure online store, our entrepreneurial client grew their business steadily year-on-year over a decade to eventually stock an excess of 13,000 products from more than 200 global brands. Soon after taking on a majority private equity partner, its steady growth was jolted by an unexpected, significant retail boost when lockdowns arrived with the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Issue:

With the unprecedented buyer demands continuing and coinciding with the global supply chain disruptions, our client’s warehousing team and its logistics, warehousing and distribution arms were in danger of burnout.

Put simply, supply was not keeping up with demand, and the Chief Operations Officer (COO) urgently needed help. Ideally, this would be a very experienced executive with strong knowledge across retail and e-commerce, with a highly adaptable, collaborative approach and cultural fit with our client’s values and flexible, modern working style.

Solution:

Within days, EIM appointed a full-time Interim Executive with a successful track record as a C-Suite / General Manager in fast-paced retail, e-commerce, and distribution businesses. With a proven ability to work hands-on in an entrepreneurial environment, the Interim Executive’s immediate focus was to fast-track capacity to meet current demands. Following this, the Executive drew on extensive experience in change management, data analysis skills, and a strong understanding of Occupational Health & Safety to provide insight and guidance to the COO, Co-Founders and Private Equity stakeholders on long-term strategic and implementation plans to resolve the original issue.
