CASE STUDY CATEGORIES
Chief Executive Officer
Sector: Industrials – Consumer Goods
Location: Sydney, NSW
Our client is a well-known consumer goods and business to business brand name in Australia, with annualised turnover of close to $200m per annum. Recently, they were acquired by a known private equity firm with plans to develop the group overseas and potentially undertake a public listing or exit.
As a group rich with tradition under private founding owners, the PE firm wished to upscale the group both operationally and from a leadership point of view.
Issue
Like most new acquisitions, the new ownership structure had a clear plan to identify the key leaders who are equipped and experienced to grow the business inline with their objectives. It was identified that this business required a new Chief Executive Officer to take the reins of the business in its next phase of growth. As such, EIM were tasked with a clear brief to appoint an experienced and growth minded CEO to report to the new owners. In addition, the group was not renowned for strong marketing and communications, hence the new owners wanted a CEO from a consumer-focused background.
Solution
EIM took great pride in identifying and attracting through out network one of Australia’s most credentialled FMCG leaders to this CEO assignment. Within one week, we appointed a CEO who ended up transforming the business from a $200m entity into a $500m gross sales business and a business with reach into North America, Asia, and Europe. After 12 months in the CEO assignment, the PE firm decided to lock in our CEO for another two years so they could realise a trade sale which eventuated to a large North American industrials and consumer business.
